Freeware Microsoft Pro Photo Tools version 2
64Here's a great toolkit from Microsoft that's free to download and use. It's a simple editor that allows you to add meta data to your photos. Meta data is information that's stored inside your image, such as title, caption, keywords or tags, copyright, and even latitude, longitude, and other location details. It includes an interactive mapping program so you can just point to where your image was taken and the GPS coordinates will be saved. You can also put your photos on the Live Earth map and then drag them to their correct location. The GPS information will be saved back into the photos.
Metadata also includes all sorts of technical information that's added by your camera automatically, including date created, lens data and shutter speed, camera type, etc. You can also view these properties, and the metadata you've added by doing a right click on any image, then choosing properties.
I've used this tool for years to process thousands of images. You can edit multiple images at a time. I keep a master list of my images in an excel spreadsheet, so I can copy and paste title, description and tags from similar images. It saves many hours of drudge work.
Once you've added this information to your images it saves time when you send your images to various online domains that can read the metadata such as Smugmug. [Unfortunately Hubpages is not yet one of them] This vastly simplifies the process of submitting images for sale on micro stock agencies, since you usually don't have to reenter the title, descriptionand tags for each image you submit.
